Angel

Angel

Little Pony

Our special delivery from Ely, Nevada arrived at 2:30pm, July 21st, 2003. Since this little girl is to start a new life at the Miracle Horse Rescue Ranch, we felt that a new name would be the beginning.

Rick and Dawn Brown, of Ely, Nevada volunteered to transport this special package the 300 miles one way to us. Dawn had said she gave our Little Pony a new name befiiting of the beautiful little face that she has. She is "ANGEL"

Rick and Dawn picked Angel up Sunday evening. They had anticipated problems of her loading in the trailer due to her past, but amazingly she went right in. First stop for the night was their home, all of their horses were talking as they pulled the trailer in, and much to their surprise Angel who had been known for not whinnying to other horses was talking right back to them, an indication of more to come?

They all departed at 6:30am from Ely making there way to us. At 10:30am we received a call from Dawn, they had stopped in Ash Springs, Nevada about 185 miles from us, the starter in their truck had gone out. They had parked in the shade, and while repairs were made, Dawn checked on Angel who was riding quite comfortably. She had plenty of water and food for the trip. The trip continued without a hitch. At 2pm, Dawn called and said they were 27 miles outside of town. Everything was ready for Angel. At 2:25 we were all standing outside the gate, as the Chevy Truck and Large Trailer turned down the road. We captured all of this on video. As they pulled into the gate, all the horses began talking to the new arrival. In response, Angel echoed their welcome, which to us was the most glorious sound you can imagine. As the truck stopped a hush blanketed the property, which around here is unusual. As we opened the trailer doors, peering back at us was the most precious sight. Rick walked in and got Angel leading her out into the bright sunshine. He handed Rob the lead rope, and kneeling down talking softly to her, Angel and Rob met for the first time. Rob walked Angel to her new home and released her. She stood staring back at all of us, while all the other horses began greeting her once again....and she greeted them as well. She had a long trip and we left her to settle in. About two hours later, we ladies decided we had to go up town to pick up a few items for our BBQ. As we were leaving, Rob went out and sat down in Angel's pen with her. When we returned, we heard some great news from everyone that remained behind. Rob had managed to pick up Angel's front feet and cradle them, working on removing some of the overgrown frog. She never gave him any problems as had been reported to us that she would. Angel's feet present a challenge, but Rob believes he will get them back to normal. For those of you who may not know this, it takes the average horse/pony a whole year to grow a complete new hoof. In Angel's case there is at least 3 years worth of growth that she is displaying. We know that Rob will be diligent in his efforts to get her back to where she should be.

We would also like to inform everyone, that Angel will now join the ranks of the other eight permanent residents at the facility.

At this time, we would like to thank everyone who donated to Angel's plight!
