Cracker

cracker

Three years ago an old fella arrived at MHR by the name of Cracker. Very friendly, but oh did he have some physical problems. His knees were blown, sway backed, and all in all in poor condition. He was 35 when he arrived.

Well, here he is 38 years old and for the past three years we have managed to keep him pretty much pain free, teeth done and comfortable. Over the last three days we have noticed some big changes in him, he does not want to eat, he is moving very slow and virtually has no interest in anything and that includes his goodies (ie., vitamins, Sr. Equine). He looks tired and I know what he is telling me. I have already spoken to the vet this morning, discussed Cracker's age, his legs, his lack of appetite and his lack of interest in everything. Dr. Henseler is very familiar with Cracker, and he even told me this morning that Cracker no longer has a quality of life and it is time to let him go.

Cracker crossed the bridge at 1:10 p.m., August 9, 2007. Dr. Henesler said that Cracker was more than ready to leave.

He came into to this world with dignity, and left the same way.  It was very quick for him and very painless.
