My name is Fury and I would like to tell you my story and how I came to Miracle Horse Rescue on November 19th, 2001.
I was born 24 years ago in Las Vegas, Nevada to a wonderful family. When I arrived everyone was so very excited. As I looked up I saw a man, a woman and two children looking down on me. My children thought I was wonderful, the woman thought I was adorable but there seem to be a special something between the man and me.
As the years went by I was taken care of very well by everyone in my family but especially my man. My kids grew up and they had different interests but I did see them but, my man was always there for me. I never had any type of formal training so I have never been ridden but I did make my family a wonderful pet. One year ago my man had a stroke leaving him unable to tend to my daily needs. So, my man's wife started taking care of me. I know that she was doing her very best for me but it was hard for her to take care of my man, her two granddaughters, and me. I really missed the one on one but I understood. But through all of this I still received the daily care I required. The saying "Things Happen For A Reason" really is true.
On November 5th, my man's wife watched the special that George Knapp televised on Las Vegas Channel 8 about Miracle Horse Rescue and what they do for horses in need. Though it was very difficult for her she made the call to the people at Miracle. She explained her situation and they agreed to take me as soon as the State Brand Inspection could be arranged.
On November 19th a truck rolled in pulling a large container something I never had seen before. I learned that it was a Horse Trailer. My man and his wife came out and alot of talking was going on but I couldn't hear a darn thing but, I knew it was about me. As I looked up a man that I have never seen before was walking towards me. He was carrying a halter and lead rope, I had not seen one of those in a long time. He was talking softly to me. I was very nervous at first but the man was patient and never pressured me. He waited for me to come to him. When I did, I noticed a lady opening the gate. It had been quite sometime since I had been out of my pen. As, we walked towards the horse trailer another woman walked up by the name of Kelly. I found out later that she was a friend of the man and woman from Miracle and wanted to be there to help. She walked me to the back of the trailer and we just stood there. Kelly, talked softly and reassured me that it was going to be okay. I looked over at my man and his wife and the both had tears in their eyes. They had given me such a good life with them and I think I gave them pleasure also. They were thinking of me, I knew this. The Miracle man walked up to me and said "Okay boy, lets do this for them" I knew then what had to be done. The Miracle man said "Up Boy" and that is just what I did. I jumped into that trailer like I had done it before, making my man and his wife very proud of me. As I looked out, I saw a tear sliding down my man's cheek, but he gave a thumbs up to the Miracle people.
The trip was great, I had no problems at all. When we pulled through the gates of Miracle Horse Rescue, I heard a whole lot of noise, just like the noise I make. When i stepped out of the trailer I could not believe what I saw! There were a whole bunch more that looked just like me. How exciting!! Well, let me tell you what this is a good place to be. I have a stall between to of the finest looking little fillies I have ever layed my eyes on. Isn't Life Grand!!!!
