(Grace was adopted, but due to the current terrible economic conditions, her new family reluctantly could not follow through with the adoption.)
According to the veterinarian, Grace is between 5 and 8 yrs old as of January 2007 when she came to MHR. She arrived with an injury she had sustained to her left hind leg in September 2006 that had not received any medical treatment. She had a large mass of proud flesh on this injury that was continuing to rupture. On January 12th, we were prepared to have the surgery performed for removal of the proud flesh, but.our veterinarian decided to take a less invasive measure, as he had concerns that nerves and tendons would be involved and he did not want to risk her being lame the rest of her life.
Well, it worked. Grace will always have a scar and this particular leg. The leg is not real pretty but she is not lame, and can run like the wind with no adverse affects. She loves people and can be ridden by an experienced rider. She can be bossy with other horses. She does not like to be bathed, but likes to be groomed. She will give her feet to be trimmed but is very sensitive with her hind feet. The farrier needs to be patient with her. She roundpens, loads and ties.
Here's a video of Grace. A second video (July 1, 2007). Grace is sponsored by LindaNV until she can find a permanent home.
