Miracle Horse Rescue is unable to take in additional horses at this time due to lack of room and due to the fact that donations are at an all-time low. We hope this changes soon.

We have a blog!

Check out Miracle Horse Rescue's blog for daily news on the happenings at MHR.

Finally, it's Apple's turn!

AJAfter what seemed like forever, Apple tried to sneak AJ in on us. Fortunately the marestare webcam did its job and one of the FOBs, cjcolo, called to alert us that Apple was in labor. At 3:30 am on Monday, June 16, 2008, Applejack, aka AJ, son of Apple and sire Jack, was born. Since drafts have a reputation for being slow to get up after birth, we were prepared to wait patiently to see him rise. He surprised us all by getting up very quickly. He found the milk bar quickly too and he is one HUGE baby!

AJ and his mom are now center stage on our webcam. By the way, we have added a second, better webcam. You can still see Jerri and Hope in the background and we will be able to turn the new cam to the round pen so that you'll see even more of the goings-on at MHR. Last week we saw Spirit and Baby B as they had their exercise time. My my how those babies have grown!

Follow all the happenings on the MHR blog.

We are accepting inquiries and preparing a waiting list for adoption of AJ. Applications must meet all standards and requirements set forth within our contract. Serious inquiries for her adoption only. Pllease send email to miraclehorserescue01@gmail.com requesting an application.

Hope has arrived!!!

HopeSay Hello to Nellie's Hope, born May 29, 2008 at 5:20 am, just as dawn was breaking. It's a new day! Hope is Jerri's daughter, and Nellie's granddaughter.

Jerri kept us biting our fingernails for qute a while before she decided to get down to business, but she wasted no time when the time finally came. We think it was just 4-5 minutes from the time she got down on the ground until Hope arrived. She's very healthy and active and Jerri's fine. We are so happy she's here, and she means very much to us. She is safe forever.

Two short months

Nellie and JosephWe met Nellie when she burst upon the scene on January 17, 2008. On Thursday, March 20, 2008, Nellie and her precious unborn foal, Lil Angel, were euthanized. Nellie was unable to stand after emergency surgery for a severe case of sand colic.

We are determined to do all we can to make these tragic deaths meaningful. Nellie and Lil Angel are the latest vicitms of the PMU industry and it must stop! Read more of Nellie's story and please join us in our fight. Follow the story of the survivors, Jerri and Apple here.

Hay squeezeAll aboard the 2008 Hay Wagon!

Now that the Big Boned Gals have arrived, providing the horses with the hay they need is a very expensive proposition. We started the drive with enough hay for six months, but thanks to increasing costs, that's gone and we're now raising funds on a month-to-month basis. We hope we have some enticements for you that may make our goals a little easier to achieve.

Miracle Horse Rescue Inc. is a federally-recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization which is dedicated to the preservation and welfare of abused, neglected and unwanted domesticated horses of all types and conditions. Miracle Horse Rescue does not receive Federal or state funding, and relies totally on the generosity of public donations. It is the goal of Miracle Horse Rescue to rehabilitate each horse to the best of its ability, and then to locate placement into a "Forever" home through our adoption program. Miracle Horse Rescue is anti-slaughter, and those horses deemed unadoptable because of varying disabilities will live out the rest of their lives at the Miracle Horse Rescue facility, receiving the care and love they so justly deserve. At the end of their lives, when all treatment has been tried and the decision is made that further attempts are futile, the only option becomes humane euthanasia by a qualified/certified/licensed equine veterinarian.
