Sprite

Sprite arrived on June 21, 2001. Sprite came from a wonderful environment. Since the family was relocating they took into consideration the changes that Sprite would have to undergo. They visited Miracle Horse Rescue, Inc. and decided that this is where Sprite needed to be.
Sprite is a 21 year old TB Gelding, his registered name is Windy Valley. We were informed that he was a former race horse but since being off the track has become a wonderful trail horse. He is very, very gentle and loves everyone.
Sprite had been adopted in December and was delivered to his new home on December 16th. He was to be the first horse for a young girl and was given to her on Christmas Eve. Three and a half weeks after his being delivered we received a telephone call from the new owner informing us that Sprite was at the veterinarians office with a severe case of colic. This call was received at 6:30pm. We had spoke to the treating veterinarian and were told that they were doing everything they could for him. At 12:45am we received the final call, Sprite had taken a turn for the worse and all attempts had failed. Sprite had to be put down for his final rest.
In the seven months that Sprite spent at the Miracle facility he was one of the sweetest and gentlest horses we had encountered. He was always there with a soft nicker at feeding time and would rub his nose against your cheek as if to say thanks for the food. We use to love to turn him out to exercise as he would kick up his heels and let out a squeal of sheer delight. He helped a young volunteer who came out on a regular basis to her first horseback ride. A memory we are sure she will cherish forever.
Sprite will always be remembered.
