Wally, b. 1984, Gelding, TB who was raced in his young days. His leg was injured in a fall. He was well tended to by his previous owners, whose daughter nursed him day and night until he improved, but he does have permanent leg and knee damage. When his previous owners' daughter left for college, they were no longer able to afford to keep him and although they loved him very much and tried to find him another permanent home, the fact that he had a severe heart murmur made that impossible to do,

Update
In late August 2008, Wally started showing signs of colic. The vet was called an administered the prescribed treatment for the problem, including a dose of oil to help things clear up. The vet also told us that Wally was much older than we had thought and that he was probably in his late 20s or early 30s. Wally was fine the next day, but then as evening fell he had more trouble. The vet was again called, but this time it was apparent that Wally was suffering from something more severe than colic, possibly kidney failure, his body systems were shutting down and that further treatment would likely be unsuccessful. He was refusing food and water. We made the hard decision to end Wally's suffering and on the evening of August 30, 2008 Wally was humanely euthanized.
Thank you so much Candae (songcyclist) for your faithful devotion and support of Wally. He and we appreciated it very much.
